A little about Me

Hi there, my name is Natasha Newland, the founder of SnailMailFairy Paperie and I can’t tell you how happy I am to see you here.

I was first introduced to Scrapbooking in 2004 when I nannied abroad in the USA for a year. It was popular in America and I was amazed at all the different ways you could memory keep. I became passionate about this fun and rewarding hobby. I joined the Instagram world and quickly made crafty friendships where I participated in ‘happy mail’ swaps with likeminded people from all around the world (USA, the Netherlands and Australia). This is where my use of the name ‘SnailMailFairy’ comes from. Coming home to a mailbox filled with pretty mail is one of my most favourite things. Happy Mail is just what it sounds like… It’s mail that makes you happy.

In early 2019 my crafting dreams came true when I became a creative ambassador for New Zealand’s own Rosie’s Studio, which is based in Auckland. I adore the Rosie’s team and their amazing products and have loved the experience and opportunities to showcase my talents so far as a paper crafter.

My husband renovated our old downstairs area into the most wonderful craft room which has truly turned into my ‘happy place’. I spend all of my spare time down there. I started a small shop and attended my local Saturday markets selling my handcrafted paper goodies such as cards, junk journals and notebooks. I enjoy meeting new people who love my products and crafting as much as I do.

It was so exciting to learn the technique of sewing on paper with different coloured threads. Who knew you could do this? It just adds the best dimension to your projects. It’s not often that I don’t sew on paper now. I began experimenting more with my sewing machine and this time with fabric, which is my new found obsession. I enjoy making and giving handmade presents to friends and family. Happiness is really handmade.

When you look at it today the paper crafting world is so expansive and so inclusive that I cannot get enough of it, and over the last year my crafting journey has started moving from a hobby to starting my small business and then developing this online store.

Thankyou so much for checking out my website. I hope you find it inspiring. Happy shopping!
